Our Story

I get my love of animals from my mom. My earliest memories have animals, multiple animals of all different kinds, in them! She was very into horse riding and showing when she was a teenager. She has always been an animal lover and big supporter of animal welfare and has passed that on to me. If it were not for the 6 acre ranchette that we live on, I could not help as many animals. So, thank you to her for making this possible. I started working with animals in high school, and that continued on to working in the veterinary field after I graduated. Even when I try to leave the industry, my heart always pulls me back.

My first senior rescue was Brooks, a hot-mess yorkie mix that I found wandering around my grandpa’s neighborhood in Brookings, Oregon. I brought him to the local vet hospital to have him scanned for a microchip, and when one was not found, I brought him home with every intention of rehoming him. Obviously that did not work, and here we are. I have always rescued animals; dogs, cats, orphaned kittens…and had always planned on starting a rescue, so 2025 is the year! I have had so much support from friends and family, and especially from my boyfriend, Justin. If it wasn’t for him, none of this would be possible. I guess he finally realizes what “you chose this life” truly means! Thank you to everyone, near and far, that has believed in me and my mission to help animals, I am so excited to see what Brooks Legacy Senior Dog Rescue can accomplish!
